EN EL MACIZO DEL CAROIG

The mountains of The Caroig are the geographical centre of the Valencian Community. Its 23 village are different but with character: here local charm is not hidden. We are able to visit the village of Millares and Dos Aguas, suspended between chasms of rocks formed by wind and water over the centuries.
Much lower down is Sumercarcel where the river opens up. The blue dome of the church is reflected in its waters. But you can't feel the heart beat of the Caroig without the other villages: the grand gothic acropolis of Montesa. A fortress, half castle and half monastery; and the village, which gave name to the Order of the Knights of Montesa, the inheritors of the Templers.
At sundown, the great rock reflects a golden light, covering you. From here one can see Vallada; at the foot of a pointed rock which awaits its climbers. And Mogente, of high ground and legends of Iberian warriors with noble horses and pride. In Fuente la Higuera we find one of the key pieces of our rebirth: the high altar of the church. Anna is water: the albufera surrounded by trees and ample greenery, as well as other springs and fountains in and around the village; black poplar trees, ferns, and plantations of rose-bay trees. It is in water that we discover its origins. Nearby Estubeny is also full of springs, popping up all around the village in-between its Mediterranean vegetation.
Enguera is of extensive pine groves and musical angels that survived earthquakes. Further on into the interior we find Chella, with the old part of the village leading us up to “ El Salto “. Bolbaite, where the river slows amongst the rocks below the castle. And Navarres with large pine trees and cliffs of the Rio Grande. Quesa and Bicorp, between mountains of rosemary, sage and pines. In Quesa we can visit “ Los Lagos”, and in Bicorp the prehistoric cave paintings to be found in the “ Cueva de la Araña” cave. Tous isn't just a village, it's a garden. The natural enchantment of Sellent with the fountain “ Font de Pinar”, the contrast of the old centre with the modern villages of Beneixida and Garvarda. Discovering the ancient farmhouse of Cotes. And the River Xuquer opening up its beauties in a beautiful valley full of orange groves in Antella, Alcantera de Xuquer and Carcer. But above all do not forget to walk amongst these castles, streets, lakes and rivers during romantic nights at full moon: it is not possible to come here and not feel strong emotions and breath in the creative intellect of the place.
